We’re all thinking about what’s next… What’s the future of fintech? What’s the future of insurtech? What’s the future of banking? How will industry trends and world events affect my company?

That’s where conferences and events can help! Learn from experts, talk to peers, visit expo booths… all to stay up on what’s next in the fintech and finserv industries. If you missed some of the big NYC fintech conferences recently, let us share our insights with you!

We asked a few of our Caliber team members what they learned from three fintech events in New York City the week of May 23, 2022: Fintech Nexus USA 2022 (formerly LendIt USA 2022)Insurtech Insights USA 2022 and The Financial Revolutionist’s Fin & Juice party. Here are their key event take-aways.

The Future of Finance is Embedded, with an Eye Toward the Needs of Customers and End Users

LendIt/Fintech Nexus reflections from Caliber Account Manager Philipp Jago

“A big trend discussed at LendIt was embedded finance, which typically describes the integration of financial services into products and services offered by a non-financial organization. Panelists talked about how the wide availability of versatile APIs has led to a proliferation of embedded financial services – not always to the benefit of consumers and businesses. The next wave of embedded finance needs to have a well-defined purpose and drive value for the organization offering it, not just the technology provider/bank selling it. One of the most well-known examples of an embedded financial product – on the consumer side – is probably Buy-Now-Pay-Later (BNPL), which is essentially a loan offered by a non-bank. On the business side of things, lending APIs that allow lenders to directly access a potential borrower’s banking and accounting records are a good example. One thing is certain, companies across verticals and industries will continue to integrate more and more financial products and tools into their ecosystems, simplifying many workflows for their customers while driving sales for themselves.”

Tech is Important, but Don’t Forget Your Industry Roots

Insurtech Insights reflections from Caliber Managing Director Kristie Galvani

“I was thrilled to be part of Insurtech Insights 2022. The packed convention hall was buzzing with lively conversation, great sessions, fun booths and tons of networking. One of the sessions I attended was the keynote with Rob Schimek from bolttech, He shared his thoughts on what insurtechs need to do in order to succeed and one of them really resonated with me. Schimek reminded the audience: Don’t forget you are InsurTechs. Yes, tech is a part of it but so is insurance. In order to succeed you must become part of the industry. I found this to be a great reminder that as tech continues to disrupt a variety of industries, we can’t lose sight of the industry itself.”

Listening to Leaders Can Help Navigate Uncertainty in Your Industry

Insurtech Insights reflections from Caliber Senior Account Executive Jamie Kemp

“It’s always great to attend fintech and insurtech industry conferences from a PR perspective. The conference brought together many brilliant minds who are on similar paths to bring technology to the forefront of the insurance industry. Throughout the day, I had the opportunity to attend expert panels, hear keynote speeches and connect with insurtech executives. Most notably, I had the pleasure of seeing my client, bolttech, in person. James Dwane, America’s CEO of bolt, provided his unique perspective on a panel about what insurance marketplaces will look like in 2030. It was interesting to learn what leading voices in the industry are predicting for the future of insurtech.”

Connecting with Peers Sets the Foundation for Future Wins

Fin & Juice reception reflections from Caliber Marketing & Events Executive Laura Grace Pustmueller

“We had the pleasure of co-hosting Fin & Juice, a fintech/finserv/insurtech networking happy hour, with our friends at The Financial RevolutionistForwardAI and Grasshopper Bank. The venue was Death Ave, but the spirit of camaraderie sure was alive! It’s no surprise – so many of us have missed in-person quality time. After all, what’s better than an evening of good drinks, good food & great company? We were thrilled to connect with our team, friends and clients, and even to meet many face-to-face for the first time! At Caliber, we are passionate about creating opportunities to connect stellar industry folks and to build relationships that become the foundation for a true community. We are already looking forward to hosting our next event — if you’d like to partner with us, we’d love to hear from you!”

Fintech, insurtech and financial services execs built lasting connections at Fin & Juice, hosted by The Financial Revolutionist, in partnership with Caliber Corporate Advisers, Forward AI and Grasshopper Bank.
