Inside Caliber’s Most Musical Offsite Yet: Nashville 2025.
Every year, the Caliber team steps away from our screens and day-to-day to reflect and realign around where we’re heading next.
This year we gathered in Nashville for our annual offsite, settling into the Tempo by Hilton in the heart of downtown. Just steps from Broadway, it was a fitting backdrop to return to our roots as storytellers in a city built on storytelling.
Here’s a look at what it was like to spend a few days together as a team.
Easing into Nashville’s rhythm with conversation
By the time Wednesday afternoon rolled around, some of the team had already been in Nashville for a day, kicking off the week with a leadership session. Others were just arriving, the lobby was steadily filling as teammates arrived and caught up before the evening welcome dinner. With new faces to meet and familiar ones to reconnect with, the room quickly filled with travel stories, laughter and shared anticipation for the days ahead.
That evening, the team gathered for dinner and drinks, where CEO Grace Keith Rodriguez officially kicked off the offsite. She opened with a poem reflecting on the year behind us and the pace of change ahead, including a line comparing AI to “a precocious child” — curious, fast-moving and impossible to ignore. It was a thoughtful, characteristically Grace way to set the tone for the conversations to come.
Redefining success through the stories we tell
Thursday’s conversations began with a brief icebreaker to level-set before the day got underway.
We then moved into a talk from Sam Davidson, CEO of the Nashville Entrepreneur Center. Sam challenged us to reconsider how success is defined, offering that the height of success is tied to the depth of community, and that community is built through genuine connection.
He reflected on storytelling as one of the earliest ways humans made sense of the world, passed down lessons and built trust — a reminder of the role clarity and empathy play in helping messages land.
Data without context is noise. A story without purpose is forgettable. Strong storytellers reduce friction, create understanding and turn information into meaning.
Open conversations on AI and the business
The morning continued with a group session focused on how the team is using AI in our work today. The discussion highlighted practical applications already in use, examples of creative experimentation and a shared understanding that these tools are meant to support, not replace, strong thinking, judgment and execution — a point CEO Grace Keith Rodriguez echoed in her most recent Fast Company piece on leading with discernment in an age of AI overconfidence.
That conversation was followed by a broader discussion focused on the business — including what the agency accomplished over the past year, the goals guiding the work ahead and Caliber’s longer-term vision. Leadership reinforced that Caliber’s strength lies in going deeper within its focus areas and industries served, rather than expanding beyond them. The session included an open Q&A with Grace, COO Kristie Galvani and founder Harvey Hudes, giving the team space to ask questions, reflect on progress and align around where the firm is headed next.

Writing our theme song in the middle of Music City
After lunch, the team headed to 1979 Studio for a songwriting workshop hosted by Kidbilly Music — a session that became a highlight of the offsite for many.
Like any good comms strategy, songwriting starts with asking the right questions. In this case, those included:
What impact are we trying to make?
What outcomes do we want for our clients?
What qualities make our team distinct?
As the brainstorming picked up, ideas started turning into lyrics and the song started to come to life. From there, we landed on a chorus that captured what we kept circling back to — who we are and how we show up — ending with the line: “it’s all in the name.”
With the chorus solidified, we broke into two teams (cue the friendly competition) to craft the verses before coming back together to stitch the lyrics into a finished song and studio recording. The result was equal parts thoughtful and fun, sounding exactly like us — strategic, curious and collaborative.
In many ways, the exercise mirrored our own work — figuring out what matters most, deciding what doesn’t need to be said and shaping it into a story that’s clear and easy to understand.

A night in Nashville and a look toward what’s next
Dinner at The Diner on Thursday night brought the team together over southern dishes and city views from a private floor near Broadway. It was an easygoing night of laughter and connection, the kind that let the events of the day settle in while also making space for a different kind of conversation the next morning as the team gathered for the final in-person sessions.
Friday’s discussions centered on Caliber’s future and reinforced a clear theme. Stability is a strength and meaningful growth comes from depth not breadth. Our direction remains focused on deep expertise and thoughtful expansion in the industries where we bring the most value.

Celebrating our wins Caliber style
Before heading home, we wrapped the week with Caliber’s annual awards, taking time to recognize standout work across the team. Categories spanned all corners of the agency — from creative-problem solving to campaign execution to exemplifying Caliber’s core values — including Best Use of AI/Technology, Making Lemonade Out of Lemons and PR Campaign of the Year.
It was a simple way to recognize the many ways people show up across the agency and the work they make possible.
Heading home with renewed momentum
As everyone packed up for flights home — with a few squeezing in some extra time to explore Nashville — one thing was clear: our work is shaped by the way we show up for one another.
It was a reminder of what we can accomplish when we step back and show up together with intention.
