Caliber Account Executive Maggie Holman, an avid reader and chocolate lover, recently sat down with Kate Forster, Caliber’s culture manager, to talk about her career in fintech and financial services public relations. Read on to learn more about Maggie, who joined Caliber in 2022, in this Staff Spotlight interview.

Kate: What is your favorite nickname and how did you get it?

Maggie: I had quite a few nicknames growing up (Magatrong, Maganator, Magster) but my favorite one is undoubtedly Maggalicious as it is inspired by the revolutionary pop song, Fergalicious by Fergie.

Kate: Where do you consider “home”? What is special about it?

Maggie:  I grew up in a small town in New Jersey called Chatham and although neither me nor my family have lived there since 2017, it will always hold a special place in my heart.

Kate: What non-work activities inspire you?

Maggie: I love to read! I recently joined a book club in Charleston and our first book is “The Only One Left” by Riley Sager. Although it’s winter now, during the summer my preferred location for reading is definitely the beach.

Kate: If you had to include one ingredient in every meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Maggie:  Probably chocolate. I have an insane sweet tooth, and basically do include it in every meal already.

Kate: What’s your favorite movie and/or book?

Maggie: This is hard! I love so many so I am going to have to name a few. My favorite movies are Little Women (2019), The Way Way Back, Call Me By Your Name, and Practical Magic (and the Corpse Bride!) which I watch every year based on the season it corresponds with. My favorite books are The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls, The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller, and Educated  by Tara Wastover. And although you did not ask, I am going to include my favorite TV shows as well because I am very passionate about my entertainment: Normal People and The Haunting of Hill House

Kate: What’s one accomplishment from your childhood that you still brag about?

Maggie:  I was a proud member of Girls on the Run in fourth grade and I placed third in the 5K which earned me a medal and everything. Third place may not seem that impressive, but if you know me this is quite shocking as the only time I’ve ran in the past decade is when I am being chased. But shout out to my colleagues Caitlinn and Justin who recently ran the NYC Marathon (though not as impressive as my feat).

Maggie Holman quote

Kate: When you think about your time at Caliber, what career accomplishment or milestone makes you feel most proud?

Maggie:  My biggest accomplishment is my professional growth. Reflecting back to when I first joined Caliber as compared to now, I am astounded by the substantial leaps in my learning, skills, network, and confidence.

Kate: Name one thing that amazes you about fintech or innovation in financial services.

Maggie:  I am amazed by the constant evolution that makes financial services more accessible and user-friendly. The rapid advancements in technology have opened up new possibilities, breaking down barriers and ensuring that a broader spectrum of people can now engage with and benefit from financial services in ways that were previously elusive to them.

Kate: What’s your favorite thing about working at Caliber?

Maggie: The people of course! Since the moment I joined Caliber I’ve received nothing but guidance and support from my colleagues. Speaking of which, I also value the constant opportunities to learn through Caliber College of Public Relations (CCPR) courses, learning sessions, and the mentorship program.
